IF YOU CAN DREAM IT, I CAN MAKE IT
About Me
It seems like an obvious career path now, but producing was not always where I thought my talents would lead. When I was young, I imagined myself as a Broadway diva – taking center stage and moving audiences to tears with my voice. However, life sometimes offers you unexpected opportunities. I took a casting internship one spring, and soon enough, I found myself casting divas instead of becoming one. As it turned out, I had an aptitude for it, and much to my surprise, loved it just as much as performing. Soon I was casting major Broadway productions in New York such as Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, The Producers, and Jersey Boys.
However, while I love casting and believe it’s an important part of any production, more and more I found it too narrow. It wasn’t just the joy of finding the right talented actors I loved, it was the whole process of bringing a creative vision to life. Another unexpected opportunity presented itself, and I made my way to Los Angeles, where I landed as a creative development executive at O’Taye Productions. A few years later, I moved on to become a creative producer at Imaginary Forces, where I had the fantastic opportunity to co-produce the documentary feature Sonic Sea, for which I received a 2016 Emmy. Technicolor then wooed me away to work as a senior marketing producer – bringing Netflix trailers to screens all over the world in more than twenty-five languages. After Technicolor, I was at Picture Production Company as Executive Director of Marketing Services, serving as co-head of the Los Angeles office for PPC, and also overseeing a production team responsible for the localization of trailers and TV spots for Paramount and Universal films. Most recently, I was Sr. AV Producer at Amazon Studios, managing all aspects of trailer and TV spot production for Amazon Original Series – highlights included the award-winning campaigns for The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Terminal List. Currently, I am an AV Producer for Films at Netflix – coming full circle to work on the same team for whom I had been a vendor while at Technicolor.
Always an organizer by nature, I love bringing amazing people together to make art. What makes me a great producer and team leader is my ability to do so – being able to pick a leading lady is a terrific skill, but I can also hold my own alongside the best writers, editors, and directors as well. Ask people what a producer does, and you will get a wide variety of answers, the most common being “I don’t know!” Ask me, and I’ll tell you: “She’s someone who has to speak everyone else’s language in order to bring a great story to life.” And I love the challenge and the reward of translating all of the different languages and voices in a creative process to bring about a result that is entertaining, beautiful, and meaningful.
